Here's a quick reminder for you all that we're less than a month away from the release of Streams Inwards, the new album of Chilean atmospheric death/doom metal band Mar De Grises.

Time to get excited. Or depressed. Or whatever you get when you find out there's a new high-quality doom metal release on the way.






This may come as a total shock to you, but the Metal Storm Staff are pretty keen on the doom metal genre (no shit). As a consequence, most people around MS Staff Towers are already wetting their pants - assuming they're already wearing pants - over the new Mar De Grises album... and we have all reasons to think you should be soiling yourself too.


Streams Inwards is the band's third effort and follow-up to 2008's Draining The Waterheart. Said album was critically acclaimed, not only around this board, and boosted the band's popularity immensely. As a result the guys from Mar De Grises now have a golden MS Staff Award trophy sitting on their mantelpiece. And earlier this year, they also scored a record deal with renowned label Season Of Mist.

But don't take my word for it. Back in May 2008 veteran reviewer Jeff accurately described the album as follows: "Mar De Grises is the kind of band that can give you shivers and always evokes emotions through its compositions. The ambiance of Draining The Waterheart is unique, really cold on a side but also really attractive and peaceful (...) The music of Mar De Grises is neither aggressive nor too dark; these are poems on amazing melodies." Pretty neat, huh? You bet your hairy ass it is.

And I saved the best for last. Cuz it sure seems like Mar De Grises will be embarking on a European Tour in December, together with Swallow The Sun and Sólstafir. Dates are expected to be announced soon!
