01. Michael Collins
He was a great fighter for the cause of Irish freedom in recent history and basically brought about the creation of a free Irish state for the first time in a few hundred years.

02. Pagan
The title track. This song is an attack on organized religion.. not just Catholicism or Christianity, but other even more suppressive religions like Islam. It's about the hypocrisy and lies that people are fed and the way people are told to live life peacefully and justly by people committing heinous crimes such as pedophilia etc. It's one of the heavier songs on the album too.

03. The Gael
People may recognize this tune from the film 'Last of the Mohicans' The tune is called 'The Gael' also. This follows on from a song off Folk-Lore called 'Death of a Gael' in which a woman loses her husband by a Viking arrow and this song continues with her sadness and unbearable loss.

04. Ard Ri Na H-Eireann
This translates as 'High King of Ireland' and it is about Brian Boru who was the high king who united most of the clans in Ireland and drove the Vikings from Ireland forever in 1014.

05. March To Chluain Tairbh
This is an instrumental march. Chluain Tairbh or Clontarf as it's known today is an area in Dublin bay in which a great battle took place between the Irish Gael and the Vikings in which the Vikings lost and fled into the sea. King Brian Boru lost his life that day in 1014 when a Viking named Brodir broke through Brian's guard and hacked off Brian's leg while
he was in his camp and so Brian died. Brodir was slain too.

06. Viking Slayer
Another of the heavier songs. Again it centers around the Viking invasions in Ireland from 769 to 1014.

07. 1014AD
As above....

08. Some Say The Devil Is Dead
Is a traditional song and totally turns away from the themes of the previous songs. The lyrics are nonsensical and it's basically a rousing pub song for everyone to sing.

09. A Thousand Years
Is an instrumental in which it's theme is about the 1000 years of fighting and struggle the Irish have undergone to hold on to their land and keep it free. Firstly it was the Vikings about 769. Then the Normans in the 1100's. Then ever since there have been battles and risings against the English up until the modern day, until basically 1992 when the IRA declared it's ceasefire.

10. Lament For The Wild Geese
Is a traditional tune and instrumental. The wild geese were Irish that went and fought in Flanders in the 1600's

11. Erinsong
This is an old song and it's taken from Celtic mythology in which the druid Amergin invokes the name of Ireland and some of those words are written into the lyrics.

12. Summoning Of The Sidhe
The Sidhe or Shee are the faerie folk of Ireland and this instrumental is a tune summoning them from the otherworld.

13. The Fall Of Gondolin
This appeared on our first album and we re-recorded it for Pagan as a bonus track. It's based on the story of Gonolin from Tolkien's epic Silmarillion.
