Amon Amarth

Band profile:

Amon Amarth
Currently on tour with Entombed, the band seem to have been touring non-stop. On this U.K. leg of the tour I managed to have a chat with the giant viking Johan Hegg about what it is like being a part of Amon Amarth. This is how it went:

Part 1

Part 2

A link to the show review of the night can be found at this location.

Thanks to Johan for his time, and also Andy Turner for setting it up.
Conducted & edited by Barry Anderson, recorded by Richard Anderson.

I hope you got a beer. Anyhow, some interesting points brought up, like downloading and the popularity of metal in Scandinavia which is often overlooked. I like the way how he sees France, Belgium and Holland as Soutern Europe.

The review was very interesting. I totally agree on Johan Hegg's viewpoint on illegal downloading. It hurts bands. It's nice that he talked about metal's popularity in Scandinavia as well. It was a fascinating interview.

By the way, RIP Mike Alexander.

Nice interview, Baz. You're improving with each one.

Nice to hear that my favourite saga, Egil Skallagrimson's, is one of Johan's favourites. I'd love to hear an Amon Amarth concept album based on it. A Bloodshed Over Bochum DVD would be most welcome, as well.

Cool interview. There's a couple of interesting stuff there. And I just have to say that I love his beard, haha.

@baz: I just hate you more and more, dude Had I known you were doing this I would've asked you to please ask him about their show here in Colombia, and how he liked it
AngelofDeth - 15.11.2009 at 21:48
Johann would be pretty intimidating to interview, hes basically a viking sent from the past.

No it was 51 000 something, which was the record back then. But they managed to squeese in like 57 000 a week later for U2.
Baz Anderson - 11.01.2010 at 16:14
There you go, it's official. Iron Maiden fans are fatter than U2 fans.
