Remember that feeling you got hearing Warbringer for the first time? That "Holy shit! This is intense!" feeling? Ok, well, some of you might not have felt it, but for those of you who did might just really dig Mortal Infinity.

It's hyper-thrash is what it is. Think Warbringer meets that scene from Scarface where Tony Montana has his face shoved into a mountain of cocaine. Genius? Not really, just absolutely intense from start to finish. It takes the broad riff appeal from the Bay Area scene, then shove it in a blender with that gnashing Teutonic thrash feel. Not to say this is purely another thrash revivalist type band; the sheer aggressiveness is what pushes District Destruction from revivalist to modern sounding thrash.

Unfortunately, District Destruction is another album that works better for overall feel, and not so much on an individual song basis. The steps Mortal Infinity have taken to make this album as vicious as possible seems to have made it a double edged sword; on one hand, it's gushing with rabies, on the other hand, it's made the songs almost completely indecipherable from one another. Simply being a more aggressive version of what's already out there didn't entirely work out in their favour here, it would have been nice to see some of these songs scaled back just a touch in order to make room for some more memorable song writing.

Mortal Infinity have put out an incredibly fun onslaught of thrash with District Destruction, well worth the listen for fans of the genre - just don't expect any individual stand-out tracks on this one.
