February 2006, only one month remains before the release date of the new Katatonia album, "The Great Cold Distance". But if, like me, you cannot wait this date, Peaceville and the band release right now and only for you a single "My Twin", with two versions of the super hit "My Twin" and two exclusive new songs. If you're a fan and cannot wait until "The Great Cold Distance", this is probably something for you?

So, let's talk about this Single. Well actually, I don't have a lot of things to say, yes there is only four songs on this CD so it's not so easy to talk about it. But still, "My Twin", probably one of the best songs of the upcoming album, is on the single, and yes it's a really good catchy song. On the other hand the "Opium Dub Version" of this song isn't really interesting and wasn't really a necessity for this single.

The others two songs, "Displaced" and "Dissolving Bonds" are better. They're not the best songs of the band but it's a good bonus to the upcoming album in my opinion and you'll be able to find great dark atmospheres, nice melodies and beautiful choruses. But by the way you will have to know that the upcoming album follows the road of "Viva Emptiness", so don't expect a return to the "old" Katatonia. On the other hand "My Twin" like the others new songs are really complex, with a lot of little sounds and arrangements and it's extremely interesting in my opinion.

As always, the cover is a real piece of art made by Travis Smith. So even if the digipack is simple, it's really beautiful and it's a real piece of art. My only regret actually comes from the fact that we don't have the video of "My Twin" on this single. It was the right place to release it and a good addition for this single in my opinion.

This is just a single not a must except if you're a fan, but if you have some cash and cannot wait the new album, you can buy this single it wont be a mistake. But hey, believe me, "The Great Cold Distance" will be something so be patient, Katatonia will be back soon?
