Well, well, well, what do we have here? The heaviest album of all time? The greatest blackened death metal release ever? Let's see:

First of all, let's take a look at the band itself. Angelcorpse is a blackened death metal band hailing from the US. They were formed in 1995 and their first release, Hammer Of The Gods, made their genre even more brutal and heavier than it already was. It is Exterminate, however, that I am going to talk about today! I can strongly recommend this to fans of both Vital Remains and Dark Funeral as I feel they are the closest thing to it you can hear. It's an almost perfect mix between kick-ass riffs and the hateful vibe you usually get from Swedish black metal bands such as the one I mentioned earlier.

Unlike most albums, this has absolutely no intro; it simply throws you intro an uncontrollable burst of headbanging that will only end forty minutes later. Although I enjoy every single song on this record, there are two that stand out from the rest, and those would be "Wartorn" and "Phallelujah." These are probably the heaviest (I know I used this word 100 times already but there's no other way to describe this) and most brutal (this one too) tracks in heavy metal history. It's really a shame Angelcorpse disbanded, because I would have really liked to see them live and regret entering a mosh pit for the first time in my life.

The only things I can't say I enjoy about this are, first of all, the audio quality. It's not as bad as a classic black metal album from Norway, but at the same time I feel like it would have made it slightly better if it sounded a little bit more clean. And secondly, the drums sometimes go way over the top. Kind of like Sarcófago's Hate which is an obvious influence; however, the only part where it becomes kind of annoying is in the very last track, "Sons of Vengeance."

Overall, this is Angelcorpse's best effort and one of my all-time favorites. Definitely deserves a good listen!
