Too much Kreator seriously damages your music

This demo is very useful in a certain way : it allows you to play tricks on your friends. Invite them in, play Necrotechnology and tell them that is a lost demo from the beginnings of Kreator. You can be sure that most of them will believe you, and some will even be ready to pay good money for it. If you don't like them, grab the money and run. If they really are your friends, well, grab the money anyway and then tell them that this is in fact the second demo of a young Italian band called Death Mechanism.

This short and apparently useless intro actually sums up what I have to say about Death Mechanism: they are Kreator worshippers. The very ugly 80's thrash-like cover, the dated production (although very good for a demo), the singer that sounds like Mille Petrozza, everything here is a tribute to the big German thrash band. You get fast and furious old school European style thrash done in a very good way. The musicianship is good, the songs are well written although they sometimes lack a bit of catchiness and, above all, a personal touch.

Ok sometimes you get one or two melodic chords or a Bay Area-like solo, but it's just not enough. That is too bad because it is obvious that Death Mechanism have a lot of potential, now the best thing they can do is stop listening to Pleasure To Kill and start writing their own songs. This said, if you're looking for some well-executed European thrash, there's enough aggressiveness and technique in Necrotechnology to make your day.

Necrotechnology keeps the flame of old European thrash burning and takes you twenty years backwards, which can be seen as a good thing if you consider that not many bands play that kind of metal nowadays (even Kreator included some melodic Scandinavian elements in their latest releases). This is not a bad demo at all for fans of these genre, but as far as I'm concerned I think Death Mechanism does not reach the high standards of some other, much more impressive and refreshing demos recorded by young old-school thrash bands (Evile anyone?). Next time, I expect more than a mere rip-off.
