Listen to me guys; if you are a fan of Dio, Rainbow or Black Sabbath, a fan of "true" Heavy in fact? Well then maybe I have something for you? a new excellent Heavy Metal band from Sweden, its name: "Astral Doors". The story of this band start in 2002 when two guys Joachim Nordlund [guitars] and Johan Lindstedt [former drummer of a Rap Core band, (That's true believe me )] decided to write some tracks in the spirit of the legendary old Heavy Metal bands like "Rainbow" or "Dio". After that Jocke Roberg [Keyboards] Martin Haglund [Guitars ((all bass on the album), it's Mika Itäranta who plays the bass now))] and also the fantastic singer Nils Patrik Johansson joined the band, their first album "Of The Son And The Father" was released through the label Locomotive Music in 2003.


Believe me this album is a BOMB, really it's hard actually to see something also good in the world of Heavy Metal.
There is a lot of reasons that make that this album is a pure jewel of Metal. First, the guys of "Astral Doors" rock, the two guitarists are great, the line of guitars, the solo and the rhythmic are perfect this is a great professional work. With that, and this is certainly one of the strong point of the band, the Hammond organ of Jocke is omnipresent on each tracks and that give that special sound of the 70's which gives all the "True Heavy" power on all the songs?excellent? But if I must talk about THE really great point of "Astral Doors" well I will talk about the voice of Patrik? That's just awesome, this guys have the voice of the true rocker, and he can really do what he wants with his voice, this is sometime powerful, sometime sensible, but always nice and perfect. Without any doubt we have one of the best Heavy metal singer of the metal scene.

The 11 tracks of the first album of "Astral Doors" are all without any doubt potential Hits. I could talk about the heaviest "Cloudbreaker" or the excellent "Hungry People" with its great backing chorus or at less the fantastic "Trojan Horde" with its awesome organ lines and powerful guitars riffs? well I think you understand me, all the tracks are well done. Good musical structures, great lyrics, in brief a fucking great job of that Swedish dudes.

With an excellent production, a very good sound [signed by Peter Tägtgren] in the spirit of the masters of the style but however with a modern touch "Of The Son And The Father" is that kind of album which gives to the listener a great feeling, you know this feeling that you have when you're happy to put in your stereo a great album.


Listen to me Heavy Metal fans, "Astral Doors" is coming through the world of Metal, and for a first album I can only say that we are very near of the perfection. "Of The Son And The Father" is a masterpiece this is just the new wonder of the true Heavy Metal. Without any hesitation you can go to your record shop and buy this cd for sure you will like it.
A great album with great singer and musicians, one of my favourite albums of the year 2003. The true Heavy metal masterpiece.
