After Feed-back is a Spanish band that exists since 1995. They release here their second full-length album. Before you go further in this review, I just want to let you know that this is nu metal and nothing else. And this is actually the problem: nothing else. Not that this album is boring, or wrongly-inspired, no, just that it follows the same schemes that have been repeated by almost every band in this style over the past five years or so. I know this is only my opinion, because they seem quit successful among nu metal fans, they are supported by some 'mainstream rock' magazines...

To sum up the music, After Feed-back plays something between Spineshank [obviously their major influence] and late Machine Head. Not bad influences... They add to it a few clean guitar passages [the only originality in my opinion], scratches and industrial sounds. The singer really sounds like Spineshank's, with a lot of typical screams and 'harsh' clean vocals. He has a quite common voice, neither bad nor really good. The riffs are common as well, obviously they have been written to change a concert room into a giant headbanging party.

But... I've listened to this album a dozen times now, and it absolutely does not stick in my mind. This is the kind of album you forget right after it's finished. I find it flat, lifeless, without originality nor anything to dissociate itself of the rest of this scene. The only song that awoke a bit of interest in me is the last one 'XXX', which is sung in Spanish. That's all... and that's not enough.

Having once been a fan of that kind of music, I can say that they are a good band in their style. However, due to the amount of nu metal bands that flood the music industry, I become more and more demanding as regards the originality. I'm just expecting something special, an evolution instead of a stagnation. Sorry guys, you are five years late.
