Chamber - L'Orchestre De Chambre Noir is one of those weird musical experiments that will suit every Metalhead, even if this is not entirely Metal.
I'll begin explaining what's Chamber all about, this German septet (2 guys, 5 girls), plays a mixture between Gothic music and classical music, some songs are reminders of some 80's Gothic Wave bands, while some song just need the distortion in the guitars to be called Metal.

Chamber counts within their ranks with 3 violins, cello, 12-string guitar, piano among other classical instruments, which makes the music pretty classical. Usually the instruments that are more present are the acoustic guitar and the violins, but that doesn't make the music soothing or relaxing as you might think, these guys manage to create fast paced songs with little use of percussion.

The album opens with "Entrée The Elven King" a dark piece about the elves in the forest, first thing you'll notice is the fantastic voice of Marcus Testory, so dark and deep, reminded me a little of Type O Negative to be honest.
Dark and somber doesn't mean boring, "Dead Man's Songs" will keep you singing the chorus all week long, but if you're looking for a more romantic and mellow theme, you should skip right to track 4, "A Tale Of Real Love" a fantastic dark ballad, the way the acoustic guitar entwines with the violins and the vocals is awesome.

For more happy songs, "Silence-Release" will make your day, or if you want a song with a folk twist, check out "Hometown". "Heart Of Stone" is the sinister song in the album, with the cellos commanding the rest of the instruments, and "The Truth About Snow White" is a funny piece, with a overall funny vibe.
If you want a classic Rock n' Roll piece á la Chamber, don't forget to check out "Little Devil", the closer "Shall I Fall" takes us back to the dark and murky beginning, this song features great duet between the dark vocals of Marcus Testory versus the enchanting female vocals of Asp.

Especial mention to the Cd artwork, and overall booklet layout, is a pleasure to have Cds with this kind of professionalism in their presentation and packaging.
If you're looking for Dark Gothic music filled with strings and great vocals, get this one, I'm more than sure that Chamber will appeal all the people that are into Gothic Metal.
