09. And The Heaven Falls?

Continuing with my daily dose of South American Metal reviews, I present before all of you, Heaven Falls, a nice little band hailing from Brazil, a country with a very big Metal scene, in case you didn't know.

So, what are we dealing with in this record? Well, female fronted Power Metal, it might resemble of Nightwish from time to time, even though that the vocals or Sabrina Carrión aren't operatic as the ones of Tarja.
As a matter of fact, Sabrina Carrión, main vocalist and only female member of Heaven Falls, has a pretty strong voice, without sounding too operatic, it manages to sound melodic and charming at the same time.

This 9 song album mostly contains fast paced tracks, the music itself resembles European Power Metal, with a lot of keyboards, even though the band doesn't count with a official keyboardist in their ranks.
After a short piano intro "Castles Of Illusion" kicks off the album with full speed, the voice of Sabrina really blends well with the music, without sounding cheesy, "Suffering Symphony" continues on the same path than the previous, adding much more keyboards this time, and combining the fast parts with some more mellower, I must point that, this song is a killer one and one of my favorites of the album.

"Dammed Queen" is a great song also, while "Inside My Mind" is not so great because I think that Sabrina tries to force her voice too much in this one, "Winter Dance" starts slowly, and seems like a ballad, but suddenly the song builds up and becomes this great fast paced multi-rhythmical song.

At the end of the record, you feel that something's missing , something's lacking to make this a complete experience, maybe is the production, maybe is the need to have more creative compositions, maybe is the feeling that I've heard this before, I don't really know what is it, but I demand the next record of this band, because, despite some mistakes, I enjoyed most of the album.
