It is not often that I am blown away so completely by an album in just one listen. Often times, it takes me a few run-throughs before I form a complete opinion about an album, especially when it comes to brutal death and grindcore music, which I take very seriously. So, that is why I knew this CD was something special.

It took me only one listen; start to finish, to know for certain, that The Autophagous Orgy was going to be getting a lot of playing time for me. I am never one to get my expectations up for a new band that I haven't heard before, so, despite all the hype that I had heard of this album, I listened to it with a clear slate. By the time "Nekro-Erotic Art" had finished playing though, the slate was full and overflowing with musical madness and nothing but compliments for this band and the amazing The Autophagous Orgy.

In typical gore metal style, the CD is full of sound clips and intros galore. Starting off with a nice little chat between a talk show host and a 'Doctor' who sounds exactly like Ozzy Osbourne discussing rock pornography. From there on you know that Lord Gore is about sickness?which if you are not blind and looked at the cover you would know as well. From there, it heads into a slow, chugging beginning with "Morgue Whore." It chugs through until about 2:05 when it REALLY picks up and hooks you with some great riffing! They vocals, drums, guitars, bass, everything fits perfectly together. Blast beats are used only when they fit, guitars can be heard perfectly and clearly, which is great, due to the fact they have an excellent sound and are extremely catchy! They use the nice multiple voice attack which is always a plus for me. The main vocalist has a mid-ranged death voice, which is still understandable so that you can feel free to sing along with.

Fast forward through two great songs and an ok one and you find yourself at the track which gives this album its namesake, "Last Supper (The Autophagous)" which really shows that Impetigo was a big influence of this band. It is a slow and creepy chugger that also sticks in the mind. Fans of Impetigo will especially love it for the "Trap Them & Kill Them" feel of this song! This song also contains a nice little 'epic' style guitar solo at about 2:30 which ends just before the song kicks into full gear blasting to the end tastefully.

And then?this is where the amazing praise really came from me. This song really caught me bad and had to get played 3 times in a row before moving on. It just hooked me from the beginning and all the way through. "Involuntary Vaginal Vermin Slut" is probably one of the greatest 'fuck you cheating whore' type songs I have ever heard. 3 minutes and 14 seconds of pure death metal joy! And then?just one song more before the second amazing track on The Autophagous Orgy, "Nekro-Erotic Art." A great death metal sing-along indeed! One can't help but feel the urge to head-bang through this one, tossing in some air guitars as well!

How do you end an already great CD though? Well, a great way is to do a cover. And what better band to cover then one that surely inspires you? Lord Gore finishes their amazing album with one of the greatest covers I have heard in a long time! The excellently chosen Impetigo song, "Breakfast at the Manchester Morgue." Besides being one of my favorite Impetigo songs, it is very fitting for Lord Gore's sound which they take full advantage of! It damn near surpasses the original! Then, well, how about throw in a great sound clip from Day of the Dead, a classic zombie film, to make the CD even better?! Sure! Go ahead!

Fans of death metal should definitely check this album out!
