Luthor is a young combo of Heavy Metal from Australia. They use to play a nice classic Heavy Metal, something in the vein of our old good bands of Heavy of our good old 80's. That's not very easy to choice to do this kind of music nowadays, in fact a lot of Heavy Metal heads prefer Power Metal, we all know it. That's a bit sad in my opinion, because first, Heavy is not dead, and secondly, I think that this music is certainly more original with a lot more of variations in the music itself. In that case, believe me that it's good to receive this kind of album sometime? And with Luthor don't worry we have a good damn Heavy?. Rock On !!!

"Skyweaver" is not the more original new release of the year and it's in fact the only big problem of this album. And I must say it clearly, this is a great first album for a young band, but yeah it suffers a bit of a lack of originality. However, the songs of this cd are really well done. The majority of the tracks are really catchy and the general level of the musicians is more than correct. Good guitars riffs excellent solo, [only maybe the voice of Dean is a bit "too much" sometime], but well in general all is ok. Luthor is a "real" band if you see what I mean...
And what about the musical aspect of the album? Well it's clear that Luthor chose to do classic Heavy Metal, but is it a real problem when it's good? Of course, absolutely not, at the opposite it's good to have the chance to listen to this kind of music nowadays. And when it's good ha ha that's cool really?
I must also say that, this album is an auto-production and when I see the quality of the work on the cover and especially on the sound I can only congratulate this band. This is clearly a great work.
As I said at the beginning of this review, the only problem comes from the originality of the cd. Don't worry it's not totally common but it's nothing new too, but when you see that this album is the first album of the band, I can only say one thing: damn that's promising.

If you're a fan of real Heavy Metal, if you want to discover a new combo which plays this music, have a look on Luthor. It's good to see that some guys today know how to play this music. This is maybe not the revelation of the year but without any doubts, this is a really good start. I really think that we could keep an eye on this band?
