Canaan has earned a reputation for delivering dark, sensual, melancholic music paired with atmospheric, ambient songs, these 2 styles come once again to life in the latest opus of the Italian combo.

The album starts as their previous, with an ambient track, with the novelty that includes some church-like choirs, which sets the mood for the entire album. The real first track comes with "This World Of Mine" as soon I heard this fantastic song I knew that Canaan had a masterpiece here, the song flows soothing and delivering dark feelings, the keyboards do a great job in this song (and almost in every one), and for once I'm glad we can hear the keyboards in the front instead of listening them buried in the back.

Basically the whole album goes like this: one "real" song, and one instrumental/ambient track, in the latter style the band has evolved, creating little ambient pieces worth mentioning, like "Fragment #1" and "Fragment #2", if you like ambient stuff, check them out, otherwise, you can proceed to the real songs in the album.

As we march through the fest of despair, we find songs like "The Possible Nowheres" and "Fragile" slow pieces with a lot of emotion embedded in their lyrics and atmosphere. The album also contain some songs sung in the natal language of the band (Italian), "Senza Una Risposta" sounds incredible, I can't believe how well Italian lyrics entwine with Canaan music, is a experiment I would like to se more often.

The highpoint of the album comes with "In A Never Fading Illusion" my favorite song in the Cd and the one I've been listening over and over again for weeks, the song is quite emotional and overflowing with desolation, quite hard to put it on words.
The album ends with 3 more awesome songs, "Il Rimpianto", the title track "The Unsaid Words" and "Never Again".

The progress from their previous offering is unbelievable, the band finally found their sound, every song is remarkable, no fillers here, unless you like to skip the ambient tracks (which is completely understandable in some cases) but still you have nine songs to rot in your own misery.

Without a doubt, the best album of Canaan to the date, every fan of melancholic music should get this one immediately. Is a shame the album was released in December 2005 and I listened it on 2006, nevertheless, I'm including this one in my top 10 albums of 2005.
