I know that I, sometime, heard of the quite famous Death Metal band Exmortem (formerly known as Mordor), but I don't know when or where, and another thing I didn't know was that they hails from Denmark.
This is also the first time I get a chance to acquaint myself with an Exmortem album, and around all circumstances I quite like it, not because the music pleases me that much, but it sounds like the guys had fun creating/recording it, plus that they knows what they are doing (different from many bands today).

"Nihilistic Contentment" is the third album, in a row, with the singer Smerte (Simon Petersen) and first with the reunited drummer Reno (ex-Dimmu Borgir), but it's only Exmortem's fifth since 1995, why I don't know, but that's the facts.
It's a pretty tight and very well played album, but it's missing some really outstanding tracks to be classified as a more than a good album. The material is even and the production is good, that makes this album worth listening to.

Personally I don't have any interest in the more brutal "music", Black and Gore doesn't interest me in anyway, but Death (also some brutal) can be pretty good.
Now isn't Exmortem nor "Nihilistic Contentment" the best band or album I heard in this genre, but they are stated pretty high on my short list.
But what they could do to climb even higher is to do some songs that really separated from the rest, nowadays too many of the songs sounds pretty much the same, and that's the weakest point in these more brutal genres.

But if you're a fan of the brutal music and like Brutal Death Metal, or maybe like Exmortem, this is what you should get, I don't think a second that "Nihilistic Contentment" would disappoint you. But if you're a fan of more melodic and varying music, you might have some problems with this.

There one thing that's worth mention in down here, and that's the cd, it's painted and formed as a old LP and it's totally black, yes the underside too, it looks like a real LP album. That's so damn cool done, great job guys.

Check Out: Try the clip I have linked too in the Tracklist and see for yourself!
