Six Feet Under Moves To Germany

Debauchery is a rather young band, but very prolific, in only 4 years of existence they have ready this, their second album and they're already signed to Black Attakk Records. Luck? Talent? Contacts? Maybe a little of each one, who knows.

Anyway, the sophomore effort from the band is quite good, mid-paced Death Metal with some good ideas. The band relies in the excellent vocals of Thomas, this guy can growl and shriek very tastefully (if there's something such as "tasteful" in growls and shrieks). Lyrics are quite funny, I had a good time reading some of them, especially in "Chainsaw Masturbation" and "I Will Rape And Murder".

When the first lines of "Blood For The Blood God" sound, you can't help sing along blood for the blood God!!! The same happens with ultra catchy song "Wargrinder"; musically this song is not Death Metal at all, seems more a heavy hard-rock with some growls and shrieks. Closer song "Take My Pain" has dramatic instrumentation; the symphonic arrangements give the song a melancholic touch, almost Doomy, piano and violin are great addition to the song, I definitively would like to hear Debauchery experimenting more with this.

Even if the album sounds good, you can't avoid comparing it to Six Feet Under, in some parts I could swear I was listening to Chris Barnes.
This is a young band doing Death Metal, a genre filled with clichés (like almost every genre) while the band tries to avoid some of these clichés, I can't help thinking "I've heard this before". Maybe for their third album they should try to experiment a little in the songwriting area and take away that Six Feet Under tag.

*I just hope that the thingie hanging from the Demons crotch, in the cover art, is a tail.*
