As you can see on the excellent cover of this "Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde", we're in front of the album of a guitarist, and the concept of this release is the opposition of the "heavy" electric guitars and the acoustic ones. Evidently and even if we have four songs with lyrics, this is an album for the fans of the guitars? That's up to you then?

The thirteen songs of the album aren't bad at all actually, we can find Heavy ones, like "classical" songs with acoustic guitars too and even four songs with a singer. The quality of the writing is not bad and actually it's easy to find some interesting songs on this album (especially the mellow acoustic ones).

But, there are some big problems too. First, the four songs that have vocals suffer of a really average singer. Too bad but really it's not so nice to listen to those songs? Also, sometime on some solos Michael Sobygge seems to be a bit hesitant, that's weird but true and it's a real problem when you know that you're listening to a "guitars" album. By luck his future releases will prove that it was probably a problem of "maturity" if I can use this word. Finally the production is also really average and it's problematic when you listen to this kind of release because it must be perfect, especially when you know the all the others albums of "guitar heroes" can sound. But those problems aren't so important at the end, I mean that it cannot be perfect the first time, and the future albums of Michael Sobygge prove that all that is improving.

"Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde" is not a bad album but it's not essential too. If you're looking for guitars demonstration you already know like me that some guys are the kings of the style. Though Michael Sobygge is a promising guitarist and I believe in him, let's see now how he will react and act in the future.
