01. What I Forgot
02. Virulence

Actually Melodic Meltdown is the combo of the Danish guitar master Michael Sobygge. Primary known for his solo efforts Michael decided to form a band in the middle of the 90's. After some instrumental albums and a first release with a vocalist "Second Skin" the band is back today with an EP "The Missing Link".

If it's not so easy to review an EP of only ten minutes with two songs I can also give my first feelings on the upcoming album of the band. I had the luck to listen to the precedent album that was really Heavy and powerful on a side but also really melodic, well this time it seems that the band is trying to change its musical orientation. First, the production seems to be better, the one of "The Missing Link" wasn't bad but not so good when you have the luck to listen a lot of new releases everyday. Also it's clearly oriented now toward Rock and Hard Rock.

If "What I Forgot" starts with a powerful riff, the song quickly turns into a ballad with a strong and heavy chorus. It's pleasant to listen to this kind of music that reminds me our good old Hard Rock of the 90's. Same with "Virulence" a classy mellow song in the pure spirit of an Aerosmith. However remember that Melodic Meltdown is the band of a guitarist and we evidently have a lot of great solos and melodic riffs. It's not easy to say a lot of things with two songs but it's promising and catchy. Note finally that they had the good idea to change the singer who was the bad point of the precedent releases, now all is ok?

Let's see how will be the next album of Melodic Meltdown but this EP sounds good and I think that you could download its two songs that are featured on the website of the band. Let's wait a bit to see the new album but something interesting is probably coming, I'm sure of it?
