I remember that I wrote a year ago the review of the first release of this young band from Finland. It was solid but not so spectacular and I was curious to see if this new release could be better or not. To be honest I don't think that this album is better and it's not worst too, this is just continuity and at the end we're in front of a good, but a bit common, release.

"This Is My World" is not a bad album especially when you know that Dyecrest chose to play a really Dark (near to be Gothic sometime) Power Metal. It's really interesting because it's not so easy to find bands that play this kind of Dark Heavy Metal. But on the other hand only some few songs like "Failed One" or "Fight Fear With Fire" with their catchy choruses have the potentiality to become real single hits. The others songs are ok, not bad at all but it's hard for me to find something really exceptional on this album.

As you can understand, and like with their first release, the guys of Dyecrest release something solid with a great cover and above all a perfect production but when it comes to find something really transcendental on this release?hum well?
Also, we have two singers on this album, and well actually it's just a supposition because it's hard to hear a lot Pirkka Ohlis. Too bad, the few passages where you're able to listen to his voice are really cool. Maybe that the band should work on this point for their future albums.

Well well, if you like Finish Power Metal and want something Dark but that can be catchy too, you should try the last release of Dyecrest. This is not perfect but as I already said, it's solid and I'm sure that a lot of people will like this album. For my part, I will hope that the band will try to put some craziness and originality on their next releases. When I see their potentiality and their musical ability I really believe that Dyecrest will be able to become a great band.
