01. Gar albern es uns totgebar
02. Von bittersüßem Suizid

1998 was a really important year for Bethlehem and the doom/black metal scene since the masterpiece bearing the name "S.U.I.Z.I.D." was released. After an EP, "Reflektionen auf's Sterben" (1998 as well) which was in the vein of "S.U.I.Z.I.D.", they managed to return with another EP, "Profane Fetmilch Lenzt Elf Krank" that came out during the very birth of 2000.

The sound of this EP is rather obscure and definitely less aggressive than the previous attempts of Bethlehem. Especially the first composition, "Gar Albern Es UnsTotgebar", is rather twisted in the way it was composed judging from its structure. The guitar riffing is quite heavy metal oriented and melodic if I may say and the vocals though they remain aggressive they are not the desperate deathlike screams of their previous works. And the obscure part comes when the song suddenly slows down and a passage that has an amusement part feeling (yes, you read correctly) appears to slowly become more melancholic and then let the song flow the way it began, in a heavier and more upbeat way.

The second song, "Von Bittersussem Suizid", is groovy as well and the guitars remain heavy. The bass lines are vivid and the bass guitar's pulse, along with the drumming, lends the song that groovy feeling it has, making the listener wanna? roll! Yes, whether you believe it or not this song has a? danceable feeling and the vocals, except for the fact that they are distorted (not extreme), they are clean as well.

All in all, "Profane Fetmilch Lenzt Elf Krank" is a rather melodic release from Bethlehem, being quite obscure and different if I may say, but keeping the identity of the band. I guess this is a release that the fans of the band should check, as for the others? "S.U.I.Z.I.D.", "Dark Metal" and "Dictius Te Necare" await for you to cherish the grandeur of Bethlehem and then you can give a few spins to this EP.
