Back to the roots

This is the fourth album of Thyrane already? Oh, I remember their last album "Hypnotic" they went from Symphonic Black Metal to a more Techno-Industrial approach, a change of direction that was severely criticized by the media. After that I read somewhere that they were going back to the Black Metal roots in their next album, of course I didn't believe it, because bands never go back to their roots once they experimented with other genre, but against all odds I have now the new Thyrane album. A Black Metal album.

For those that doesn't know the band I could say that this sounds a little like Old's Man Child, Satyricon and even Dimmu Borgir. Melodic yet aggressive is the mood of the album, and it sounds good, and I mean really good! The production is one of the best assets of the Cd, the sound is crystal clear and you can clearly hear each instrument, a wonderful listening experience.

The album never slows down, since the opener "Parasites Of Submission" you get melodic leads, serious blast beating and even some Death Metal influences scattered all over the place. Vocals aren't the typical piercing shriek, instead you got a shrieky gruff or something like that, in any case just download some samples from their website to see what I'm talking about.

Although the genre is somewhat overpopulated and this doesn't ooze originality, this is a very good album, very well done and when this kind of professionalism crosses my door, I always end up enjoying it. Just take a look at songs like "Truth Revealed" and "Deteriorated" to get some pleasure from the awesome riffing and the remarkable production.
