Yes as we all know (or don't know) Shub Niggurath is a cult band in their hometown Mexico, they used to be one of the strongest bands ever to step foot in my country you know? They played with bands like Benediction (twice actually), Gorefest and some others. So know I have in my hands a compilation of their material, I have to tell you that I'm a little disappointed, let me explain why.

The music is great when it comes to songwriting and structures, that's for sure and Shub Niggurath has proven to be one of the most complex bands in Mexico, but the music is not what disappointed me, what I hate about this compilation is the production you know? Yes you might say "dude?it's a compilation and it includes Demos and old EP's you know?" then I answer "Haven't you heard about Re-master?"; this guys didn't took the time to upgrade the sound quality, and that makes this compilation really difficult to hear and to understand.

So yes, the bad sound-mix and production makes this album somehow intolerable for most ears I think; but the EP sections (5-9) are amazing, and those songs are really strong and overwhelming, the compilation worth a lot only because of that segment so believe me, that part is really cool to hear. You'll se why this band has a "Cult" status in Mexico, you won't be disappointed at all.

So, this band is really great, the sound is not at all what I was expecting if you know what I mean; and I am truly sorry because if the production and mix would have been better, this compilation would be instantly a masterpiece but the sound just drowned most of the amazing features that Shub Niggurath has to offer. All in all this is a "super cult" band releasing a "cult" compilation (not everyday you see demos and live tracks in a CD) so the album is "cult", the EP section is great, and the artwork is incredible (far better than the old artwork of course) and that's why I'm giving this album a 7.
