Well I remember 2003 when I first heard this band called Bathtub Shitter, it was a good day for Grindcore and I was thirsty for intense and hostile music, I don't even recall how the CD ended up in my stereo actually, but the point is I got what I wanted, pure chaos and aggression. The band recently released their second full length album called Dance Hall Grind and now it's on my dirty hands waiting to be reviewed.

This new album is less chaotic than Lifetime Shitlist indeed, but you know what? I don't care because it's actually better than their previous efforts; the music is a pummeling machine liquefying your brain cells with grinding discharges over and over again. Do you remember a band called Macabre? Well, these Japanese guys have some similarities (for example the dual vocals which are both razor-sharp screams and low growls), that's more o less the formula of Bathtub Shitter; I could also mention names like Terrorizer, S.O.B, or maybe even Catasexual Urge Motivation but it would be totally worthless to compare the music this band makes because they are smart enough to add a lot of fresh edges, grooves, breakdowns and many experimental features all over the album, so I'll just say Bathtub Shitter is a fucking merciless shotgun blasting your ear over and over again.

The overall structure is way more mature than Lifetime Shitlist, except in the lyrical department which is still about random fecal matter, toilets and all that kind of things, although I'm glad to read a half-deep song like "The End Of The Rainbow" which has surrealistic and darkened lyrics?of course combined with the act of shitting and so on. To tell you the total truth, you won't even mind the lyrics because the music is too great to notice anything else, the super-catchy riffs will wrap you instantly and you'll be repeating that outstanding beat in "World Dun Hole", then the deathy mid-paced songs like "The End Of The Rainbow" will make you head-bang severely till your neck cracks; of course there's also the experimental execution in tracks like "Shit Drop" and [/i]"Introduction[/i] which will surprise your guts in the most bizarre way.

I liked this album from the gloomy, sinister and uncanny artwork ala Lewis Carroll (seriously, that cover freaked me out in so many levels I can't list right now) to the multi-faceted musical accomplishments all along the CD. My recommendation would be to tune down those sharpened shrieks because the low grunts steal the spotlight rigorously indeed, and the shrieks can be bothersome at times if you know what I mean (it's too high for my taste); I would also try to experiment with different heights of lyrics, it's cool to talk about feces and piss once in a while, but when the music is this complex you can and will expect complex lyrics as well don't you think? I know I do. But overall it's a great album that all of you metal-heads MUST try; so buy it as soon as possible.

Best Tracks: "The End Of The Rainbow", "World Dun Hole", "Rest In Piss", "Re-Shit", "Time Out"
