For those not in the know, Revolting Cocks are a Ministry side-project that has been making noise for almost as long as Al Jourgensen's main band. Unlike most Ministry-related projects; however, RevCo is a totally jokey and trashy affair, lampooning everything from disco to Rod Steward and scoring notoriety points for particularly vulgar and explicit lyrics. Over the years RevCo has released a number of average to good albums and saw a fair amount of guest musicians make good use of the band's revol(t)ing door policy (including Richard 23, Chris Connelly, Bill Rieflin, Trent Reznor, Nivek Ogre and even Kirk Hammett).

Frankly, this latest incarnation of industrial music's biggest joke band is not particularly exciting or memorable. Although this episode's cast is really impressive on paper (Butthole Surfers' Gibby Haynes, Jello Biafra, Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen, ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons, amongst others) their performance in most cases totally lacks the personality that previous RevCo lineups had (especially Chris Connelly is sorely missed). Most of the songs on this album consist of the guest vocalists totally ripping their vocal chords behind layers and layers of distortion, to the accompaniment of simplistic industrial metal with ear-piercing production. The exception to this rule are the two Jello Biafra tracks ("Dead End Streets" and "Viagra Culture"), which understandably sound exactly like Lard, and "Fire Engine", which was reportedly co-written with Al by Iggy Pop himself. The other songs also have some highlights here and there; however, overall both the humor and 'freshness' of the music is inferior to this bands previous albums.

I don't think this album is worth the price of the digipack release available in music stores at the moment. Instead, join eMusic or something and get the downloadable version. While you are at it, check out the previous albums since they are much more interesting and fun.
