Melodic Death? Sweden? This sounds too familiar?

The idea of listening more Melodic Death Metal bands from Sweden is almost scary at times, because there are thousands of these bands spreading around the globe. Avatar falls into the category "Melodic Death Metal from Sweden" and to be honest with you, that's never a good sign. But I like the band, I've reviewed their previous Demo "4 Reasons To Die" and while it didn't redefine the overcrowded genre, it was a nice ride.

A while has passed and I received their first full-length, entitled "Thoughts Of No Tomorrow" which features again the illustrated comic like cover art that has become a trademark in all of Avatar releases, that's a good choice to be remembered by.

The good (and bad) news is that nothing has changed too much in the musical field, Avatar still delivers crisp, tight Melodic Death Metal like many of their compatriots. The album includes some songs from their previous Demo so you can take a look at their previous work, revamped of course.

I must say that the intro of the album is quite original, starts like a ceremonial toast and then Wham! The band explodes in your face, really cool. Songs goes from classic Melodeath songs ("Bound To The Wall") to mid-paced tunes ("Stranger"), all wrapped in a effective production effort.

If you listened too much Melodic Death Metal and you're sick of it, you might wanna skip this, if you're entering into the realm of Melodeath, this is a fine damn album to start your journey. No big surprises here, just plain homemade Melodic Death Metal, just like granny likes it!
