Back in 1989, Alexa was probably one of the first female fronted Hard Rock band (I know I know Doro and some others were already there, but still, Alexa was one of the first). To be honest, I never heard anything about Alexa Anastasia and her band but apparently some people were (and still are) super fans. Some of them even bought lately the unique album of the combo from Switzerland on eBay for more than 150 $ !!!. Since that people still want to buy this album, the German label MTM decided lately to re-release it (with a nice remastering) under its MTM Classix sub-label.

If you like AOR music and female singer with a powerful deep voice, you can already prepare your money, "Alexa" will be for you. But you will have to like "old" Hard Rock" too because this album was written during the 80's and let's be honest it's a bit out of date now. I mean that the band used a lot of keyboards with this typical horrible sound (sorry for the one who like it) that we got with a ton of bands during the 80's (Europe or Van Halen first). Of course evidently I'm not blaming the band, it was a trend during the 80's but now, it's a bit "rotten" for me?

But on the other hand, if you like such music, evidently it will be different for you. I mean that "Alexa" (the album) is full of good old Hard Rock songs. Extremely melodic with a lot of good catchy rhythms nice guitars soli, the ones who like Hard Rock will like this release. Plus I cannot forget the performance of Alexa, extremely intense her hoarsy voice is the one of a pure "rocker-girl". Believe me, it's a lot more different than the voice of the numerous "nice and pure" female singers that we can listen to nowadays.

So oki, maybe that it sounds a bit "kitsch" sometime and yes it's a bit out of date but in the style "Alexa" is a good release that will please the fans of the style. Plus really, you'll be able to discover a great singer really, so if you like AOR music maybe that you'll be able to buy this album with a cool price now, instead of try to buy it on eBay for an astronomic number of dollars and that's cool, you deserve to discover this band.
