Damn, I surely wasn't expecting this at all; this Split smacked my head badly when I was defenseless and waiting for just another typical Goregrind release; both bands presented are crushing and brutal as a toothless old lady giving head to a gigantic horse with herpes. On the left corner we have Lymphatic Phlegm , they come from Brazil, they have tons of splits all over the globe and they play a Carcass-worship kind of Goregrind; on the right corner we have XXX Maniak , one of the sickest bands you'll ever hear believe me, they are underground as fuck, but regardless of that fact, they have a huge reputation between extreme metal fanatics. Now, all explanations aside, let's review this Split CD.

XXX Maniak spreads the first half of the CD, they are really brutal and hostile in their execution (almost flawless actually) and their songwriting is overwhelming as they manage to be diverse and versatile in one of the most difficult metal genres when it comes to originality. Their songs talk about the usual stuff (raping kids, killing chicks and all that things) but who cares about lyrics when the music is as great as what we can hear in this Split? This band impressed me big time, even the drum-programming sounds amazing and the vocals?damn those vocals are great, scary as hell but still understandable.

Then, after XXX Maniak just crushed your skull with their sick kind of Porngrind, Lymphatic Phlegm enters with a great Goregrind assault. Their half is not as entertaining as the XXX Maniak segment, but they are not bad or anything, they just make more straightforward music with serious structures which leaves the fun parts on hold. The sound is rawer in this side, but it fits with the general scheme of the band as their music lines towards muddy riffs and really low chromatic-tones. I liked Lymphatic Phlegm , but their music leaves a lot to desire, starting with the drumming which becomes tedious after the first couple of tracks, the vocals are amazing though, not varied or anything, but that's one of the lowest grunts I've heard since Disgorge's Cranial Impalement saw the light for the first time.

This Split is a Must for the first half alone, it has "re-playable" qualities all over the place; trust me, having this Split would be a great thing for your collection as its underground value is beyond acknowledgment. If Goregrind makes you wet, if sick music blows your brains out and if you want to know how the word "Brutal" really sounds, don't hesitate and get this Split right now.
