If you like and love big heavy and brutal Death Metal, I'm sure that I don't have to do any presentations with the Germans of Obscenity. Already 13 years after their first realization, "Suffocated Truth" our five guys are back this year with their last new album "Where The Sinners Bleed", a really nice album of Death Metal that will please all the fans of the band.

In the past, if Obscenity always played Death Metal the big difference with the others Death Metal bands from Germany was this little "Scandinavian" touch in their music and it was obvious that Obscenity was a bit like the German cousin of Dismember? This similarity was great in my opinion because Obscenity was different and a bit original and their music anyway was just a lot more interesting than the one of the numerous others Death bands from Germany.

With "Where The Sinners Bleed", you can be sure that you'll find again your favorite Death Metal band with a little difference however. Now, it's possible to find some really great "thrashy" riffs in the music and it's extremely pleasant. If the beginning of the band was more oriented toward Scandinavia, now it's a lot more oriented toward the Bay Area scene and bands like Morbid Angel. I'm not saying that Obscenity is copying those bands, at the opposite but the influences are here and we cannot deny them.

Even if it's brutal, the songs are always extremely technical but never boring. A song like "Die Again" is perfect to explain the quality of the release. Extremely fast, heavy and aggressive, the riffs are however catchy and really hypnotic but it doesn't mean that it cannot be melodic and you'll even be able to find an amazing melodic break at the half of this song. And I could say the same with all the others songs of the album? Obscenity just knows how to play a really great classic Death that doesn't suffer of any lack in the technicality and melody.

"Where The Sinners Bleed" is an impressive album of Death metal and one of my favourite one of the beginning of the year. Well structured, the songs aren't boring at all and it's obvious anyway that we're in front of a band composed of great musicians. So if you like classy classic Death Metal, be sure that you'll find two minutes to buy this album. Death Metal lovers this is a must for you!

Ok then I'll check it; I hope they don't play that Disincarnate rip-off style as they used to...then again the last time I heard something by Obscenity was back in 1998 or something, so I'll surely give them a shot; that last line was encouraging...cheers Jeff

I bloody LOVE this album...and every other album by Obscenity. Such an under-rated band on this site.
