Inspell is maybe not so famous yet in the Black Metal scene but you will have to know that they already have a strong fan base in their country, the Bulgaria. This band plays a melodic and symphonic Black Metal in the vein of Dimmu Borgir or even Emperor, though don't be afraid it's not something easy and commercial. With their last release "Arcadian Tales The Egregore" Inspell found the way to prove that they are able to produce a good Black Metal.

If you're already a fan of Symphonic Black Metal, I'm sure that you'll like "Arcadian Tales The Egregore". Not that this album is revolutionary in the style, but our two Bulgarians musicians wrote a good album with good melodic songs inspirited by fairy tales and Bulgarian mythology. Of course, you'll find a lot of keyboards and even some little folk melodies (played by the keyboards, not by folk instruments). The riffs are not so aggressive and the drums and rhythms even if it's fast are not so violent. Actually, it's mainly the voice of the singer and the dark aspect of the music that will remind you that Inspell is a Black Metal combo, but we're not so far away of Heavy Metal too at the end.

The ambiances of the album, the songs, the lyrics are not bad at all, though "Arcadian Tales The Egregore" is not extremely surprising too. It's an album of a good quality, but you'll not find something that you've never found before. It's the main problem of "Arcadian Tales The Egregore", it's hard to blame the quality of the album but it's extremely hard to, to say that you'll be in front of something that will surprise you. On the other hand I think that our guys are able to do something a bit more personal so, I'm quite sure that the next album should be a bit more interesting (especially if their experimentations into Bulgarian folk music).

If you like good symphonic Black Metal, have a look on "Arcadian Tales The Egregore". For a second album, it's a good one. With some time and experience and if the band find the way to do something a bit more original in the future, we should hear a lot of good things about Inspell. But as we say, time will tell?
