Four years already after the release date of the first album of the combo "Edge Of Life", the Power/Heavy Metallers of Deafening Silence are back with their new production, "Backlash". Still signed on the French label Brennus Music, the band didn't really change its way to play music but it's obvious that time and many concerts helped a lot the band to be a lot more mature. If "Edge Of Life" wasn't so perfect, I can tell you that it is really better with the new album and Deafening Silence should become one of the main Heavy Metal bands of the French scene.

If you like Helloween or more especially Edguy, "Backlash" is an album for you. Deafening Silence plays a classic Heavy/Power Metal a la German sauce and even if it's not really new it's effective and the twelve songs are really catchy. On the other hand, that's right that "Backlash" sound a bit old and definitely we don't have anything new in this release but the French combo managed to write good songs and the performance of the musicians is really good. The guitarists know how to do great guitars soli, the singer, with a voice a la Tobias Sammet, is really good and all in all I have to say that "Backlash" is a really nice album of Heavy Power Metal.

Despite the fact that the music of the band suffers a bit of its classicism, the new album is a lot better than the previous release. Here, the production (which is not perfect one more time) is really better than the one of "Edge Of Life" which was really problematic. It seems that the band, musically speaking like with production, improved a lot its performance. No doubt that Deafening Silence is now a band with a lot of qualities we should confirm all my good words soon.

Maybe that "Backlash" sounds a bit old on a side but it's a great album of Heavy Power Metal. Deafening Silence improved a lot since 2003 and the release of their previous album and for sure, that's a good sign. If you want a nice album a la Edguy, "Backlash" is for you. Let's see if Deafening Silence will be able to confirm all those positive feelings now (I hope it!).
