Ho well, I don't really think that I have to say anything about THE guitar maestro, Mr Satriani. Everybody who like Metal, Hard Rock or even Rock knows this guy who is without any doubt one of the greatest and most influential guitarist of all the time. I discovered this guy in 1992 with the album "The Extremists" a CD which was a real slap in my head but I quickly understood too that one of his previous albums, "Surfing With The Alien", was something essential too. 20 years later (already?) the album is re-released with a great addition, a concert on a DVD recorded in 1988 at the Montreux Jazz Festival? That's just classy?

Let's be clear, even if you already have the original version of this amazing album, the Legacy Edition is a must. The DVD deserves to be in your collection because the concert was filmed with real professional means and it's a great concert where Satriani was at the top of his form! The images are great, the sound is perfect and I have nothing to say against the performance of Mr Satriani who was extremely charismatic (and great!) during this night. As you probably understand, if you don't already know this video recording, you're just missing something great (my only little reproach comes from the fact that the song "Surfing With The Alien" is missing on the line up....).

Of course, this special edition features "Surfing With The Alien" in addition of the DVD and do I really have to say anything about this album? Of course you must like instrumental albums and great technical skill to fully enjoy this release but it's so good and greatly inspired that I'm really sure that everybody who claims to like Metal must at least confess that it's great (even if they don't like it?). No need to say anything else about this album this is simply one of the best releases of "pure guitar" ever released and it's a must for all the people who like this instruments.

Satriani is one of the few gods of the guitar and this new edition of his masterpiece "Surfing With The Alien" is a real must (even only for the DVD if you already have the original version). If you don't know it yet and love technical music and great guitarists performances, don't wait anymore and join the Silver Surfer and Joe Satriani for a magisterial journey in the universe of music.

Masterpiece IMO, great songs and great riffs, with great technic and melodies... The best Satriani album!

Oh fuck yes, I've been noticing this album kind of cheap recently, I'm so glad I waited to pick it up! I downloaded it 1-2 years ago and it's easily one of my top 50 of all time. At least half of the tracks are complete ownage.

Satriani! Can't believe we actually have a review of one of his albums. I love Surfing With The Alien, it's such a fun album for me. Of course you always have the usual ballads, like "always with me always with you" which became an anthem.

I have a lot of respect for Joe Satriani and he's one of the reasons why I picked up a guitar. He's so skilled and such a great songwriter.

An album to enjoy.
