I knew this band could make it big time ever since I heard their debut EP "En Sorglig Historia". I knew they were about to create a full length with truly epic proportions and here's the proof, "Avskräckande Exemplar" is a masterful example of modern Grindcore and chaotic Avant-Garde metal.

This piece reminds me of early Nasum, I mean let's face it, even though Splitter sounds quite fresh they completely sound influenced by the aforementioned band in most ends, so I do understand all those people comparing both Swedish acts, though the bottom line is, Splitter took the brutal sides of Nasum and made them even more grotesque and powerful, the rest of the formula is actually innovative and original in a Grindcore kind of way.

This debut is truly remarkable, it falls just one step behind Pig Destroyer's "Phantomb Limb" as the best grind album of 2007. The songs are bone crushers with battering brutality and some alternative (core) layers that deliver an odd kind of songwriting methods and chilling surprises in the form of breakdowns; it's not all about the tight execution and shivering violence, the band was smart enough to add irregular patterns and twisted time signatures as well, so it's a really big mix of Metal crafted only for really hard ears.

Turn offs? Well in this album I didn't find any, but I recently saw this band on the Obscene Extreme 2006 DVD (expect this review soon) and I had the feeling of watching a bunch of Emo kids jumping around the stage, they had that weird look with a lot of hair gel and piercings all over their face, but then I closed my eyes and all of a sudden I was hearing a Swedish monster of grindcore?yes they have the most uncool props but hell they destroy everything with their slice of chaotic music, so they could wear a Bart Simpson outfit as far as I care, their music is truly what matters. Highly recommended!

Most Swedish grind that I've heard sounds like Nasum, but much worse. It's nothing I haven't heard before.
