When a band creates their own sound, they are usually successful. It has never been truer than with this band. Pain Principle is a one-of-a-kind outfit from Florida that grinded for too long in the local underground. With a killer sound halfway between Death and Pantera and neck-breaking rhythms, Pain Principle revives memories of the 1990s while blending into the current decade. Waiting for the Flies is the result of long years of hard-work, a handful of demos, and the canalization of all of the Metal spirits.

Track after track, Pain Principle's juggernaut sound is unleashed and shaped into melodic songs. Fantastic guitar work, complex songwriting, fast and in-your-face compositions, this album encompasses a lot. What's most amazing about the band is how they create Melodic Death/Thrash Metal without ever sounding like the European version of Melodeath. Equally melodic, slightly more brutal, Pain Principle defines a sound that will stand the test of time.

The other striking elements of Pain Principle are the vocals of Kevin "Bull" Bullock. Influenced by Phil Anselmo of Pantera, Kevin goes all over the place in tones, exploring all ranges with talent. This renders the tracks even more interesting as the listener is always wondering what to expect next.

Recorded and produced by legendary Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, Cannibal Corpse), Waiting for the Flies will surprise more of one listeners by its sound quality. The definite heavy edge of the songs is to be attributed to the hard work of Pain Principle guitar player John Sutton, who has a nice and heavy guitar sound.

No need to elaborate further. Flawlessly executed, unique, brutal and melodic, Waiting for the Flies should be on everybody's shortlist. Orlando can be proud of Pain Principle, now it's enough with the underground scene. Florida, it's time to share with the rest of the world.

This takes me back to Golding's "Lord of the Flies" and that interests me. I might check this.
