There's another good band in town! The UK threesome Iron Hearse have just seen the re-release of their self-titled début album. Originally being released by Gallipoli Records in 2006, PsyceDOOMelic Records made it available for us again. And rightly so!

Their guitars are rocking and grooving, and that's exactly what we need more music of! Just like with Leather Nun (a couple of reviews back) they are inspired by Black Sabbath to the core, and have a bit of Cathedral's crusty guitarsound to go with that. They shift between aggression and more easy-going jamming all the time, keeping the music interesting. Drink a couple of beers and listen to the riffmachine!

At the end of the regular album tracks, they've granted us a couple of bonus live tracks, who are not really necessary or adding to begin with. The vocals are rather weak, and where's the crowd? I always thought live tracks needed an enthusiastic crowd, to get the 'live-vibe' going. Like this it sounds as if they're playing in front of their mothers and girlfriends, who aren't into metal anyway. Rather pointless, all they do is drain the batteries of my remote control. The only good thing about these live songs is "Winter Of Discontent", which has a very nice solo, and isn't featured in studio track form.

Without these last live songs this is still a good album, so I wouldn't be put off too much by them. If you like Sabbath and an overkill of riffage, you know what to do! Sure, we can all whine a lot about the originality that they lack, but why should we if this is just an unpretentious, enjoyable album?
