Anmod is a Brutal Death Metal band from Brazil, they actually joined forces after their last leader (The vocalist of Fornication) decided it was best to create a loser solo project and kicked everyone on the face...thus making him look oddly out of place and he ended up doing nothing whatsoever. Anyway, the guys from Anmod did do something to keep the brutality going, and so, after some years of gatherig their mojos together, they released this debut album via Deity Down Records.

So what do we have here? "Monstrosity Per Defectum" is an orgy of chugging sounds with non stop shredding, basically this is a brutal album for brutal fans, the trick here is that this is not nearly as brutal as Deeds Of Flesh it's not as technical as Suffocation and it's way heavier than basic Death Metal, so we're talking of a totally different line here; in the end is a very refreshing experience and keeps the listener entertained until the last minute, songs like "Surcease", "Hung Up At The Pale" and "Behold" act like uppers and are placed in strategical spots so the volume keeps going up instead of down.

Unfortunately the vocals didn't grow on me, not even a little bit, it's a sad mix between fruity Glen Benton and irregular burping, I'm not bashing the band here people, I guess I'm actually recommending them to get a separate vocalist, a quartet always brings good luck to any band believe me...and the present throat sounds are really that unpleasant, obviously this is present throughout the whole album, so this specific feature is very hard to digest to be perfectly honest.

Well, this is a very good effort, the music per-se is quite interesting, the production is clean, the artwork gives me the creeps and the drummer has a great lumberjack beard, so what else can you ask for? Nothing I know...So if you are bored of your Brutal collection and your money is falling out of your pockets, give this a try...one way or another it will blow your brains out...

Best Tracks: "Hung Up At The Pale", "Behold"
