Lacrimosa were formed by Tilo Wolff who is until nowadays the main composer, lyric-writer and front-man of the band (from a moment and on Ann Nurmi was added to the basic line-up of Lacrimosa and from that moment Tilo and Ann constitute the composing duet of Lacrimosa since Ann Nurmi participates with her vocals, lyrics and music). The name of the band was inspired by the last opus of Mozart, Requiem, and especially by the last part composed by Mozart before passing away (he passed away before finishing "Requiem"), "Lacrimosa". The name Lacrimosa has special emotional value for Tilo (he's a really big fan of Mozart), because it is said that Mozart burst into tears and could go no further when it came to Lacrimosa. By the night he had passed away.

Listening to an album of Lacrimosa the emotions that well out of the music, emotions just like melancholy, woe, inner pain and delight at some moments, overrun the listener, in which helps the intense dramatic element in their music and image. This intense theatrical strain in combination with Tilo's exceptional and emotional voice, the operatic vocals and the variety of instruments which take place in the compositions contribute towards experiencing exceptional feelings while listening to Lacrimosa's compositions.

"Satura" is their 3rd album, after "Angst" and "Eisamkeit". As in their previous releases, the lyrics here are also in German, but from this album and on Tilo quotes and the translation of the lyrics in English in the booklet, a correct and fair movement, in my opinion, for their fans all over the world. "Satura" in my opinion constitutes a landmark in the course of Lacrimosa because whatever they began on "Angst" and advanced on "Einsamkeit", they perfect here, on "Satura". Their dramatic elements and sound on "Satura" start to attain perfection, giving them the capability of releasing monumental albums in the future.

What can one say about the songs the compositions of this album! "Satura", the 1st composition of the album constitutes a 9-minute hymn, an opus to melancholy. The piano and the violin perform an especially melancholic atmosphere which pins the listener to the ground leaving him helpless! The next song is "Erinnerung" that begins with the sounds of happy babies laughing which gives an explanation to the title of this song, "Memory". A song with wonderful heavy guitar riffing!

For whom the bell tolls? "Crucifixio" begins. While the bells toll in a funeral way, the keyboards perform a deadly atmosphere. An especially mournful and melancholic composition with dark and sorrowful melodies and poetic and desperate lyrics, a composition that can cut an angel's wings and hold him imprisoned on earth. Tilo sings and the grey soundscape becomes even darker. "Versuchung" that follows can't be a happy song. The nightmarish and depressing atmosphere that all the instruments evoke give the impression that you are at a cemetery in a dark rainy day while the church bell raises the dead around you.

"Das Schweigen" that comes next is a gloomy and melancholic compositions. Lyrics exceptionally social and humane which talk about the innocent blood that has been spilled in the name of racism. The album reaches its end with "Flamme im Wind", another great symphonic composition by Tilo Wolff himself!

"Flame in the Wind" is the title of the last composition of the album, the flame of Lacrimosa that starts to light the sky! The difficult years have passed, it's time for this unique band to continue in glory!

A beautiful and well-balanced album, a perfect mix of the sound of the first two albums and the beginning of the sound that Tilo was going to achieve after this. I love it!
