Israel is a country full of mysticism, religion and cultural diversity, also, Israel is home of one more surprise in the Metal world, Orphaned Land was the band that made all Metalheads turn their head east, or middle-east if you will, but we all have another reason to do it so.
Now we have another reason to turn our heads towards Israel, and the reason is Eternal Gray, first class Death Metal from Israel, and here I present their debut album.

I must say that this album comes as a surprise to me, because I was not expecting to be this good, I was expecting a good Death Metal album, nothing so memorable, but after a couple of spins I knew I was listening a fine piece of work.

The band watched every detail for this, the cover art and presentation are pretty professional, the production is completely flawless, produced by Tommy Tägtgren at the Abyss Studios in Sweden (Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, Hypocrisy etc) so I can assure that the sound is crystal clear.

The music is a mixture of American and European Death Metal, the share of brutality and insane drumming are countered with some nice melodies that give the music that special touch. This is not Melodic Death Metal, that's for sure, some elements of the Old Swedish school can be found, but mainly this is Death Metal, Israel style!

The album starts its shredding with "Sins In The Process Of Creation" a classic Death Metal attack, with great mid tempos and backing vocals, next is "Flesh Cycles" another great song, and one of my favorites, an aggressive song with great melodies, a catchy chorus and excellent songwriting, "Absent Mourn" is another killer tune, but I can't help to notice that they used the same guitar accords that were used in "Pedigree Butchery" by legends Carcass. Tribute or simple coincidence? You'll be the judge.

Some other killer songs are "Inflicting Pain", "The Unbelievers Will Die" and "World Of Ice" but in a general overview of the Cd, each song is great.
Eternal Gray are practically unknown in the Metal scene outside of Israel, why? I don't know, but is time that the world knows this band, because they show real talent here, and with their second album coming soon, they'll prove that.
