Ajattara third album is here, and this time has even a weirder cover art, maybe the word I'm trying to use here is not weird, but ugly, I mean, a chicken leg? What's the point of putting a little mutilated chicken paw in the cover? These guys have serious Freudian issues, anyway, Tyhjyys (Emptiness) is the third long awaited release by these Finns, and I say long awaited because these guys, in the little time they've been around, earned a big fanbase.

And they gained many fans because their music was catchy, melodic and brutal at the same time, their Mid-paced Black Metal filled with amazing keyboards really left a dent in the Metal community, but sadly I have to say that this doesn't impress me anymore.

And why doesn't impress me? Because is the same stuff they are doing two albums ago, the same riffs, same song structures same keyboard use, same everything, these guys doesn't know the word evolution neither the word originality, they are repeating themselves over and over again.

Of course that doesn't mean this album is bad, is just the third album and is equal as the first two, so maybe if this was the first album, I could rate it high, but no, is not.
Songs are quite catchy, melodies are cool also vocals are great (although they don't use as much clean ones) and the whole album has a dark moody vibe, guess what, the same moody vibe that the first two albums.

Ajattara is a band with a lot of bipolarities, they can be melancholic and aggressive, melodic and extreme, interesting and boring, Ajattara seems to be wandering in circles not knowing with path choose or even break the circle.
If you never heard the band, any of the three albums is a good start, but be warned, all three sound pretty much the same.
