Mistweaver has already released three albums and their 4th Tales From The Grave is out now! Strangely this band from Spain never became popular, maybe that their music was not good enough to cross the frontiers but when I listen to their last release, I just wonder why they haven't been more recognized, at least in Europe. Not that Tales From The Grave is the album of the year but just because I've seen tons of worst releases?

Mistweaver plays extreme power metal and Tales From The Grave features all the ingredients needed in this recipe. Big melodic riffs, death metal vocals, dark ambiances, nothing is missing here but despite the fact that it can sound a bit cliché and that it's a bit cliché in the construction of the songs, I must admit that it's not badly done at all! The songs are effective and work pretty well and even, as I said, if it's not revolutionary Tales From The Grave has its good moments. There are a lot of keyboards which lead the melodies, sometime we even have some little gothic breaks in the songs, the good point of Tales From The Grave is that the album is not "happy". At the opposite, the songs are all dark and melancholic. The riffs and tempos are not so fast and devastating in general, but the melodies are catchy. This release is perfect for the metalheads who are looking for good melodic extreme metal.

Well recorded and with a solid performance of the musicians (even if the singer maybe lack a bit of power sometime) there is nothing really wrong to say about this release except that it's not original and follow a road which has been taken by dozens of other bands. Mistweaver is probably better than a lot of them but someone like me who is looking for "something" else and who is into metal for more than 20 years now, it's just hard to be surprised and addicted by this release? I cannot say anything bad about the album Tales From The Grave but I can't praise it too. This is good not bad but not exceptional?

People who're not looking for new things and who are into extreme melodic metal should check this one. Tales From The Grave, in this category, is a real solid album and the fans should be convinced. Other people like me who're looking for something different will not find anything special here, but at least they shouldn't die while listening to it. This is something recommended for the fans of the genre in the end?
