The Lost In Rock And Heavy Metal: Captain Beyond

This series of articles will present a number of bands that throughout the history of rock and heavy metal disappeared after a promising start, giving great importance to the main albums that helped these bands in having their "fifteen minutes of fame". The first band is Captain Beyond who, after releasing three albums in the 70s, disbanded several times with different band formations. Read more...

Covan Wake The Fuck Up Tour 2012

As you all probably remember, in 2007 a tragic accident caused the death of Decapitated's drummer Vitek, and the singer, Covan, went into a coma. Covan Wake The Fuck Up Tour is organized by Decapitated and their friendly bands in order to collect money for Covan's treatment. I guess everybody thought it would be indeed a Decapitated+ friends tour, but sadly, the band decided to play only two out of ten dates. It turned out that Virgin Snatch and Thy Disease are the only ones that will play the full tour. It's basically the same situation as two years ago, when these two bands also played together and even in the same venues. But that didn't worry me much, as I missed that tour and Virgin Snatch are one of my favorite Polish bands. Read more...

Machine Head plus guests - The Eighth Plague Tour, Denver, CO, 15th January 2012

Now I knew that Machine Head is a popular band and Darkest Hour as well as Suicide Silence always draw crowds in Denver, but frankly I didn't expect this. Read more...

What if...? - A Theory On The Decline Of The Bodom Boys

What if the reason we have all become so disappointed with Children Of Bodom in recent years is not completely Alexi's fault but inadvertently Alexander's? Read more...

Cattle Decapitation - Denver, CO, 6th January 2012

2011 was done and over! But not even a week into 2012 and I was already plagued with "gig withdrawal symptoms" and eager to begin this year's concert shenanigans. Luckily I didn't have to wait that long! Read more...

Progventure Parts 2&4: Pure Reason Revolution - The Final UK Tour

It was sometime in August that the devastating announcement came about Pure Reason Revolution disbanding after a coming final tour in the UK. As a consolation a promise was made to play their magnificent début album The Dark Third in its entirety at those shows. My favourite band giving their farewell tour... and playing my favourite album in full. No matter what, I had to be there for at least one show. I just had to see it with my own eyes, had to hear it with my own ears, had to experience it live. Read more...

Lock Up, The Rotted - Nottingham, England, 21st December 2011

Grindcore "supergroup" Lock Up don't get many opportunities to get together and blast out a few shows, but this week the UK received three early Christmas presents in the form of a three-date tour. Read more...

Monthly Video Wrap Up: November 2011

Belated as always, it's the monthly video wrap-up! Things get crazy around this time of year, what with the preparations for the annual Metal Storm awards, finding time to scrape together a few videos for your viewing pleasure was a difficult task. But it's here. You're here. The videos are here. It's time to sit back and enjoy some displays of low-budget film making put to some metal. Read more...

Progventure Part 3: Arena, Touchstone, Haken - The Assembly, Royal Leamington Spa, United Kingdom, 27.11.2011

Ha-ha! Bet you didn't expect that, that part 2 of my Progventure is actually part 3 but would be published before part 2 as to appear to be actually part 2 instead. Anyway, what I actually mean to tell you is that I'm skipping somewhat ahead of the events to find myself, at some point in my adventures, in Royal Leamington Spa with intention of seeing one of the bands I've loved for years - Arena. I consider it an extremely good fortune that their only gig in England, the final one of the The Seventh Degree of Separation tour, was taking place in a suitable time frame. Read more...

Progventure Part 1: Textures, The Ocean - The Garage, London, United Kingdom, 25.11.2011

A week in England. Those who know me, or the more clairvoyant bunch of you, probably know the reason I went there. Those who don't... well, those will have to find out in a short while. Anyway, I had a week to spend there, and what can be better than to attend some concerts? The more, the merrier, as they say. Which makes me think I'm somewhat nuts. Leaving debatable (in)sanity aside, though, I got out a gig guide and started searching for gigs of some interest, preferably prog. Hence, the name suggested itself for these small concert series of no little personal significance - Progventure. Read more...
