Some of these are pretty intense, and spot on for Madder Mortem on the first place... really need to listen to more of them.

Excellent list. Never heard about Madder Mortem... And I definitely need to check out Fields Of Nephilim.

My favourite gothic release is Tristania's Beyond The Veil. One of my favourites albums ever in fact.

All Flesh Is Grass blew my mind when I first heard it, back when I was a metal newbie and entering the genre via prog metal like Dream Theater. Having heard few gothic metal albums that one completely changed my perspective. It's also one of those rare albums which, no matter what mood I'm in or what time of the day it is, I can listen to it over and again. I couldn't recommend it enough if you haven't heard it already.

Thanks Madder Mortem you need to check pronto! As for Fields, the one I have here is a personal favourite as it has a nice thrashy edge about it. Some of their albums are more atmospheric, though I haven't heard their entire discography.

If I were to extend this list to say 50 or so, Beyond The Veil would probably make it, great album.

Some of my favs are in this list. "Widow's Weeds" is a particularly special album for me. Penumbra is also a great choice, very underrated too!

"The Angel And The Dark River" brings back memories, should listen to that one again.

That's an interesting decision, what genre would you say they come under? They have become fairly progressive in their most recent albums.
