1.
Black Sabbath - Mob Rules Sabbath returns to the heavy riffs and aggressive style of their earlier records, but this time with Dio soaring over the top. |
2.
Mötley Crüe - Too Fast For Love A more aggressive straightforward version of Van Halen. Or, an americanized, lean, and catchy answer to the NWOBHM. |
3.
Iron Maiden - Killers Huge improvement over the debut. Better guitar work and heavier punk influences are all over this record. |
4.
Def Leppard - High 'n' Dry Easily the band's best album. Incredibly catchy and well put together metal, with positive traces of the power ballads that were to come. |
5.
Praying Mantis - Time Tells No Lies A very melodic album, with good vocals and variety. Absolutely no complaints to be made about this album. |
6.
Demon - Night Of The Demon Some of the darkest, heaviest stuff out at this point. the intro is just pure evil sounding, and the rest of the record is powerful, and oh so old school. |
7.
More - Warhead 80's metal highly influenced by 60's and early 70's rock 'n' roll make for a very unique listen, and an incredibly enjoyable one at that. |
8.
AC/DC - For Those About To Rock (We Salute You) Although compared to any of their previous work, this comes off as stagnant and uninspired, no band can compare with the anthemic macho persona this band displays. |
9.
Accept - Breaker Accept continues to improve with each release. The aggressive songs are better, and the ballads improved tenfold. |
10.
Holocaust - The Nightcomers One of the loudest, fastest bands out at this point. Driving, to-the-point-drumming, shredding solos, and impressive riffs. |
11.
Girlschool - Hit And Run Huge improvement over their debut. Grimy, heavy, and yet still catchy and fun. Very punk, and fueled with attitude. |
12.
Venom - Welcome To Hell One of the most influential bands in metal's first album passed under the radar to most. The album has some of the worst production I have ever heard, but the riffs can still be felt despite the thinness of the sound. |
13.
Van Halen - Fair Warning A fair balance of heavy metal riffs, sleazy rock 'n' roll, and Van Halen's signature style of lighthearted fun. |
14.
Blue Öyster Cult - Fire Of Unknown Origin Their heaviest, and most accessible album, they keep th eenergy up till the last 2 songs this time. Professional execution and creative songwriting keep this forever enjoyable. |
15.
Budgie - Nightflight Budgie continues to move towards a classic metal sound. The band's progressive past is a no-show, and instead we have a solid chunk mid-tempo metal riffs, techincal drumming, and catchy vocals. |
16.
Discharge - Why? Overly repetitive at points, and 0 variety in the vocals, but so ridiculously ahead of its time in its power, volume, heaviness, and especially speed, that makes this beautiful hardcore punk album so metal. |
17.
Tygers Of Pan Tang - Spellbound Huge change from their debut. less sleazy, and replaced by a slicker, more metallic version of themselves. Good riffs, and fantastic vocals lead this album. |
18.
Ozzy Osbourne - Diary Of A Madman Ozzy's second solo album doesn't come off quite as calculated and lame as the debut. More great guitar work, catchy songs, and a fun listen. |
19.
Judas Priest - Point Of Entry Inconsistant at best. The aggressive tracks are Priest classics, but so much of the album sounds like cleaned off versions of their early 70's stuff. Always strong vocals, and musicianship, but the songwriting seems quite confused at best. |
20.
Riot - Fire Down Under A fast, rockin' album full of energy, with borderline childish lyrics and annoyingly repetitive. Absolutely killer in small doses however. |

In my opinion, Iron Maiden > Killers.
A lot of people say that, I honestly don't hear it in the first record though. |

Me either. Killers is one of my all time favorites. Great list, by the way. |
