20:20 - DeliciousDishes I think Akira did something way different. It mostly adapted the manga, while GitS is mostly its own beast (especially from a tonal perspective). I actually think Akira is much more confusing than GitS.
20:16 - Mr. Doctor It's hard to make a movie of a manga of course because you gotta squeeze a lot of stuff in it, but Akira did it too and better. I still love GITS though. Im just commenting why a remake isnt a bad idea.
20:14 - Marcus Especially GitS: Innocence. I remember having no clue what was going on half the time.
20:13 - Mr. Doctor It matters if the movie is confusing. I'm not expecting everything to be served on a silver plate but at times it was hard to give a shit about the plot when the movie didn't provide much reason neither care nor follow.
20:06 - DeliciousDishes I honestly don't think the backstory matters that much to like the first film. They aren't doing a live version for that though, but for that sweet easy money they can get.
20:03 - Mr. Doctor It's definitely a hard pill to swallow that movie... Because at times ti seems like I need more backjground story. Hence why it's understandable that they are doing a live version.
Great and very personal list; one might expect to find some classic bands like Darkthrone, Satyricon and stuff like that but in this case there are a lot of unconventional choices, not precisely "true" black metal (there are avantgarde, post-, doom, progressive and folk influences) but in any case inseparable from the genre itself.
The title explains everything: your black metal.
Fav choices: Enslaved, WITTR, Agalloch, Alcest, Ulver, Katatonia, A Forest Of Stars. Oh, and Anorexia Nervosa are fucking crazy.
