16:57 - Cynic Metalhead Done the dissertation part. It's very hard. But, when you get rewarded - it feels awesome.
16:23 - mz thanks Mary. I have not started yet :P. @ K7 I really don't think that it will be a good idea
16:15 - Bad English you can pay me I can write, I did write for others when I was studiing and get money. one time it was negative mark, because teacher hated that guy
16:13 - Mary No Thesis writing is really the hardest thing to do in life. I wish you luck.
16:06 - mz his first name was Yves maybe. I'm not sure, just guessing from his email. There is an institusion in Belgium that the guy works as researcher/ professor in it.
16:04 - Erik M. mz, I'm unaware of anyone in my family being a professor, hahaha. Would be funny if he actually would be family of mine, though. :P What's his first name? But my last name is not THAT uncommon in this country, for the record.
16:01 - mz nah. It was nice concident, considering that Mols is not a usual family name it seems.
Fields Of The Nephilim is death?
Otherwise, prime list. You are singlehandedly making the UK more and more interesting to me.
Just that album, which has a pretty sizeable death/thrash vein running through it. Probably a bit of a stretch to have it here, but as I say, good UK death is somewhat of a rarity (I'm sure there's plenty hidden out there though).
Yeah I've tried to make this list specific to things I personally enjoy instead of an exhaustive list of bands. That being said I don't dislike those three bands, Amputated are fun live, but I dunno, I don't really ever listen to them so I feel like if I added them I'd end up adding other bands that I don't mind, rather than ones I genuinely listen to every now and then and keep it a list of the best of the country. That being said, I may stretch to a couple of these to balance things out and to hit that elusive 30 mark.
As for Cancer, I dunno, they never really did anything for me.
Never thought of Akercocke as Death Metal?!? At least not pure DM. Seemed more black (and wanky) than Death.
And both Napalm Death and Lock Up are mainly grind. Surely Napalm Death would've been better represented by Harmony Corruption or Utopia Banished?
Yet not a single Carcass album?!? But Benediction are present?
If you don't think Akercocke's last 3 albums are 80%+ death metal then you need to go back and listen to them. Only their first two could be considered predominantly black metal, maybe not even the second album actually.
And new-era Napalm Death and Lock-Up are as much death as they are grind, and thus classifiable as deathgrind, and thus warrant a place here.
You should listen to Words That Go Unspoken. I imagine you'd like it.
I'll check it out.
Quote: As for Napalm Death I was never very fond of Scum. Harmony Corruption might be better here but I've always really like Smear Campaign.
Scum much like Reeks is shit on quite a few levels, yet one can appreciate it for what it did to extreme music.
By Harmony Corruption, Napalm Death had gone "full Florida" in terms of sound. From memory they even recorded it at Morrisound Studios (home to mucho DM bands at time) and had Scott Burns producing. Ol' Scot was probably as much responsible for the Florida DM sound as the bands themselves (a list of stuff he produced: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Burns_(producer) ).
Fear, Emptiness, Despair sounded heavy as hell but completely unremarkable and quite boring.
And then there was Diatribes on which started going more groove metal. It was ok but Barney's vocals sounded a bit daft and it was lacking in good enough riffs to make it passable for groove metal.
Personally I think it is more death metal than doom.
A lot of death metal in there indeed, but it's more regarded a doom metal classic rather than a death metal classic. Well, specifically it's of course regarded a doom death classic so in that sense you're right because doom death means death metal with doom metal elements. But I still wouldn't add it to this list simply because of the doom in the sound. This list is for death metal, not death doom or doom death.
