WOW - 135 albums in one year? How did you have time to sleep? Or breathe? Usually when I make a year-end list, it's a top 10 or 20 at best (with the rest falling under merely good/mediocre) lol...

I'm curious about how many times (generally speaking) you listened to these albums and whether you listen to a new album with focused attention or while multitasking. As most (good) metal records take me at least 5 or 6 spins to appreciate its nuances to a degree that I feel is adequate in order to give it a proper "rating". Often at the end of a year there would be around 10 albums that's been played at least 20+ times, which I would consider to be the best of that year.

Anyways, seems like you've listened to practically everything released last year! Still I would definitely recommend 2 exquisite albums missing from this list: Vulture Industries - The Tower & Blindead - Absence

135 albums is not unusual for someone who has enough free time in their schedule to devote to new music. Some users here surpass the 300-album mark at the end of a year. It also probably means he spends less time listening to old releases. Just because you only have enough time to make a list of 10-20 albums and require at least 5-6 spins to "get" an album doesn't mean everyone else has to.

Although I think the title of this list is misleading. I think it's more like "everything I've listened to in 2013".

No. This is not everything I listened in 2013, this is everything I listened and I actually liked in 2013. The number of albums I listen is bigger (I work at a recording store and most of the time I have nothing to do than to listen to music). Basicaly, these are all albums that I listened more than once and I still go back to them even today. There are other albums that I liked but the bands are not in the Metalstorm database and I actually do not really enjoy adding stuff that ain't here, don't ask me why 'cause it's a habbit of mine. If an album intrigues me, I would spin in many times in 1-2 days until I would be satisfied. I actually never count how many times I listen to an album, nor do I care, I just made this list with albums that made an impression. My 2014 list will surely surpass this one though, I need to update it though.

I work at a records store and there are days when basicaly nothing happens and days with few customers and all I day is to sit down in front of a pc with a CD playing. So yeah, basicaly I have a lot of time in my hands and not to mention that I have much time to listen home too (as I usually borrow CDs from the store and take them home for a more in depth listening). Now, I do not really bother counting how many times I listen to an album. There are albums that hook me up from 1-2 listens and albums that take 10 or more. It varies. I remember listening to Nightfall's Cassiopeia many times until I actually started to really dig it. There are a few other albums that falls under a similar experience. Safe to say that at least the top 20 still remains in my current playlist even today. Damn, I can't remember how many times I listened to the new Chthonic offering. Brilliant album. I am not interested in stuff like 'best of the year' really. I basicaly put here what I like without giving a fuck about who gets 'best of the year'. As for the two albums you mentioned, I listened to them, I like the first one (somehow I forgot to add it here) but I did not like the second. Thanks anyway!

Heh, well not really, wage wise it is crap, there are months where I have to do a side-job to cover my expenses. I do have to admit that CD selling is bad, really bad where I live and so is vinyl. Unfortunately there are people here who do not bother buying anything (yet they do salivate when they see a CD they want). Bad purchasing power... Most of those that buy something are metalheads, from time to time. Even today I am wondering how can this store be still here with so little profit (or none). Anyway, it is a cool place, I like the fact that it ain't a stressing job, it is very relaxing. What could it be better than to listen the music that you like while doing a job that you also like? Nothing!
