Good list, needs more metal albums though. Also that Tchornobog album is actually on Invictus productions, Dark Descent records and Fallen Empire records but definitely not Iron Bonehead productions.

Oh, well Jooe said it was on iron bonehead. I went to check but I had trouble myself finding info on it. I probably could find some though if i cared enough.

Bandcamp ftw. Here's the Tchornobog release page on their official Fallen Empire records' bandcamp page.

And yeah I know it will be a pain in the ass to check out the tons of new albums in the New album recs thread or in the Interwebz but even a teeny bit of effort will end really fruitful though.

I truly have no idea how anyone has listened to 50 albums this year already. Some of you rabid listeners even more than that. That equates to more than one album per day on average. Either y'all have way too much time on your hands, or I just have too little

That said, I am compelled to thumb up this one both for the Lain avatar as well as the Run The Jewels inclusion. Props.

I listen to a couple of new albums i hear about every day. My new years resolution was to keep track fo all the music i listen to and i did it in the form of this list. Also Lain is the best anime ever.

That's a good resolution man, I applaud you a lot on that because I know I would almost definitely lose track

And yeah, Lain is definitely in my top 3. Part of what I like to think of as the "Holy Trinity" of cyberpunk anime too, the other two being Ergo Proxy and Texhnolyze. Have you checked out either of those?

I'd definitely say you should if you enjoy Lain, you'll be right at home with both. Ergo Proxy is something like... a man who used to be this divine being created a mortal clone of himself because he didn't want that life anymore. But the clone had its memories erased and has no idea, so the whole series is this big "quest for identity" type thing. Very philosophical, it's a thinking man's anime

Texhnolyze is something really special that patience rewards you with. A post apocalyptic, underground city in which 3 rival gangs are warring for power, but there's a lot more to it than that. Explores a lot of issues such as human evolution, human savagery and whether it's something to be overcome or accepted, and more. I enjoy this a lot since I'm also a big crime fan, and you'll notice if you watch that Texhnolyze has a huge mob genre influence, which is rare for sci fi. Yoshitoshi Abe, one of the main character designers for Lain, is on it as well, so you'll recognize the visual style immediately.

Ergo Proxy has my name written all over it, and it's more modern, so it should be cool.
Texhnolyze also sounds like something i would love, I also like crime and mob stuff, and mixing that with sci-fi anime sounds perfect. I think i might just watch more anime this year.

Nice man, glad I could help! If you check em out by the way, feel free to talk about your thoughts on each with me. Like Lain, very good series for discussion once you're done with them.

I know, I was thinking the same thing. I can't really explain it though, I just don't like it as much as I did around the time it came out. Either way I still prefer the old Emptiness.

I overlooked the fact it said 'Upcoming releases' at nr. 24. My mistake.
