The greatest albums of all time aka albums that nobody needs to listen to unless they want to aka only 9/10 and 10/10 albums here aka no memes, sorry. No particular order either. Will add more albums in the future. Because I can't add new albums in the past, can I?

Good start, dude.

For me, the question always is: what do you imply when you say: "albums that everyone needs to hear at least once"?

If this is just a list of your personal favourites, fine. I have done that, it is always a good thing to do I think.
But does really everyone need to hear all your favourite albums at least once? No offense, I doubt that.

If this is supposed to imply some objectivity to some degree then I would want some more arguments with each album as to why you consider them greatest albums of all time, in order to give this list some meaning.

Really, dude, no offense intended, I am just thinking out loud now.

No offense taken at all! What I mean by "should be heard by everyone" (though I do mean fans of metal and its subgenres, not literally everyone) is that if someone hasn't heard an album on this list, they've missed out on something that is either truly excellent or at least truly different/unique. Some albums on this list ARE NOT personal favorites, but I still feel they are essential for fans of metal.

I guess that can come across as self-important, but it wasn't intended as such. And you are 100% correct in that I should add mini-reviews to each selection to justify the choices. I will get to work on that soon.

I don't believe you. I think you are just upset at the lack of Hammerfall on the list

I like the list, Metren. It needs a few additions if it's supposed to be a list of important/influential metal albums anyone should listen to at least once though.

Cheers! And yeah, this list needs a lot more work

BTW "An album everyone needs to hear" is a statement about how awesome these albums are, it's not me saying everyone needs to listent to what I listen to haha.

I got/heard 20 of them. You got the right Metallica one. Don't think much of Puppets.

Man, in the last 12 years there is just one album "that everyone needs to hear at least once"?

It's like an appeal to tradition.

Those were the first forty or so albums off of the top of my head. I will be adding more newer (and older) ones too once I find the time.

Yeah, I suspected it...
If I didn't find more than one album "that everyone needs to hear at least once" in more than 10 years, I'd pass to some other genre. Maybe dubstep has something more to offer?

Well, still it sounds weird to me that in the first 40 albums that came to your mind just one is from the last 12 years and less than 1/3 in the last 20.

That's because I haven't listened to much metal in the last 2-3 decades. I've been too busy loving all that dubstep.

EDIT: Added 3 newer albums, that's all I got time for now. Enjoy the vastly improved less tradition-appealing list
