Norther - N Definitely the most underrated album of the year, it has those fins move to a somewhat more heavy metal sound, resulting in a density of hymns rarely reached on an album with songs like 'down', 'black gold' or the shamelessly catchy 'we rock'. Even better, the limited version gets the EP as bonus, which closes 'N' on an epic note.
Metallica - Death Magnetic Somewhat overshadowed by the discussion about its production, I can't help but give these guys a thumbs up for trying really hard to produce a blueprint of a Metallica record by merging most styles of their past together. Oh, yes, and the production SUCKS. ;)
Cryptopsy - The Unspoken King "The St.Anger of Death Metal"... its reputation probably preceeds this album already. But you have no idea how bad it is until you're bored enough to put it on from start to finish, like I did in my car. And, wow, this one really sucks.
