My Favorite Black And Doom Metal Albums Of 2012!

Its in alphabetical order by albums... Some albums on this list may or may not be the exact description of Black or Doom Metal or their subgenres. They just seem to fit for my taste and way I like my Black And Doom dosage. I'm sure some may say Les Discrets and Alcest and other bands on the list can't be Black or Doom because of their sounds and lyrical themes, but if their music gives me that darkness that let's say Watain or Gorgoroth give in Black Metal just without the Satanic lyrics and more of the emotions of Blackness and Doom then to me its Black Metal and the same goes to whatever Doom bands are on my list. If anyone checks out my list, thanks.

1. Mental Home - Угра
2. Forgotten Tomb - ...And Don't Deliver Us From Evil
3. Profetus - ...To Open The Passages In Dusk
4. Narrow House - A Key To Panngrieb
5. A Forest Of Stars - A Shadowplay For Yesterdays

Quadruple A: Apothecary's Album Art Anthology

I know I probably speak for a lot of people when I say that, very often, the artwork that a band chooses for a particular album can be the icing on the cake, essential to giving a visual depiction that tops off the overall aesthetic of the music. There are plenty of albums that I simply couldn't imagine listening to without staring, zoned out, to the big ball of glorious that is their cover art. Here are some such albums. In alphabetical order by band. Links to full images of the covers have been provided, as well as credits to the artists.

1. Aarni - Bathos
2. Absu - The Sun Of Tiphareth
3. Atheist - Unquestionable Presence
4. Bathory - Blood Fire Death
5. Blue Öyster Cult - Fire Of Unknown Origin

Dark, Harrowing, And Ravaging Albums To Ruin Your Day

These obviously won't ruin your day. Chances are if you are into these styles you'll love this selection. No stylistic borders, but I'm limiting myself to one album per band. These aren't necessarily my favorite albums by these bands, but they are the one's I think fit the best.

2. Abruptum - Potestates Apocalypsis
3. Abyssal - Novit Enim Dominus Qui Sunt Eius

A List Of Great One-Man Band Albums

Creating good music might not be an easy task, but most bands in existence consist of multiple members who contribute to the music. One-man bands however are simply musicians who create the music all by themselves, which, in my opinion, is very impressive. Because of the fact that there are quite a few of these talented musicians, I created this list. Of course there are many more one-man band albums than I have listed here and that's why I'm open to suggestions. So be sure to give me recommendations and also let me know if I listed the "wrong" album by a band (in your opinion). Lastly, the list is ranked according to genre and then alphabetically. I only add 1 (full-length) album per band (and only albums that are featured on MS).

1. [Avantgarde]
2. Aarni - Bathos
3. Brown Jenkins - Death Obsession
4. Cloak Of Altering - Ancient Paths Through Timeless Voids
5. De Magia Veterum - The Divine Antithesis

Daggon's Top Top Top Of 2012

In my very humble opinion, this albums are what made my 2012 more awesome. 1. Bell Witch - Longing
2. Pallbearer - Sorrow And Extinction
3. Elysian Blaze - Blood Geometry
4. The Howling Void - The Womb Beyond The World
5. Diablo Swing Orchestra - Pandora's Piñata

The Best Of Unorthodox Black Metal

Within the past decade, black metal has seen bands from all over the world incorporating new sounds to the style and changing its delivery like never before. As great as the classic acts are, BM bands today seem to be branching out in every possible direction. From the beautiful chaos of the French bands to the psychedelic dabblings of the Finns to the atmospheric scene out West in the U.S... all the experimentation is helping to create a new identity for the genre. So, in no particular order, here are some of the best releases from this growing trend of originality within black metal's foundations (atmospheric, psychedelic, black doom, and otherwise).

1. Deathspell Omega - Fas - Ite, Maledicti, In Ignem Aeternum
2. Blut Aus Nord - 777 - The Desanctification
3. Diapsiquir - Virus STN
4. Glorior Belli - The Great Southern Darkness
5. Enslaved - Axioma Ethica Odini

MMXII: Ranking The "Final" Year's Albums

While I'm slightly disappointed the world didn't end this year, I thought I'd share my musical tastes from throughout the year by arbitrarily ranking other people's art. When the year began I was really into sludge and stoner but as the year has worn on, it's been the black metal releases which by and large have won my attention and appreciation.

1. Royal Thunder - CVI
2. Ancestors - In Dreams and Time
3. Hail Spirit Noir - Pneuma
4. Hidden Orchestra - Archipelago
5. Reverence - The Asthenic Ascension
