Black Metal: The Expansion Pack

My initial rendition was looking at the USBM scene. Next I opted to dive into where it arguably all began… Norway. My most recent exploration was into Switzerland’s scene. Rather than repeatedly coming up with a new list, I thought I would blow it all up and start anew. This list will serve as my comprehensive findings on a country by country basis. It will allow me to move on more quickly rather than having to keep a small select group of bands on my Apple Music search history. This is not intended to simply start laundry listing every single band from across the globe. I will note below which country I’m currently dabbling in. Feel free to suggest within the confines of countries already listened to and the one currently being explored. Check back to see what is the next to be explored.

Albums That Made Me What I Am

This is not a list over my favourite albums, although some of them on the list of course are. These are albums that formed me, had a huge impact on me and defined my musical taste. Without some of these releases I probably wouldn't even be the person that I am today.

1.Metallica - Master Of Puppets
2.Iron Maiden - Rock In Rio
3.Iron Maiden - Dance Of Death
4.Iron Maiden - Killers
5.Iron Maiden - Somewhere In Time

That Cold Black Magic, By Glenn Killer And His Thorchestra

As is the case with my other lists, this is for my own organizational purposes and is designed purely to help me keep track of all the many black metal bands and albums that I enjoy, since I can't keep all of this information in my head. It has no other benefit whatsoever and will likely result in tantrums should anyone else see it. I'm aware that I haven't listened to every black metal album that I should have. I only went down to the 6s on this list, so it's possible that I have listened to your favorite black metal album that you desperately need to suggest and I thought it was terrible. There are a lot of heinously incompetent black metal bands out there.

1.Sigh - Imaginary Sonicscape
2.Sigh - Graveward
3.Dissection - Storm Of The Light's Bane
4.Sigh - Heir To Despair
5.The Meads Of Asphodel - The Murder Of Jesus The Jew

The Best Of Dissonant Metal

Metal art of dissonance as I love it.
Rules:
- on album per band, unless the band has very different albums.
-I'm not picky for albums released before 2000.
-I'm not picky for genres that are to some degrees unusual for the dissonance, like sludge metal.

This list is open to suggestions.

1.Abyssal - Novit Enim Dominus Qui Sunt Eius
2.Alkerdeel - Morinde
3.Altars - Paramnesia
4.Amnis Nihili - Christological Escalation
5.Antediluvian - λόγος

Dark, Harrowing, And Ravaging Albums To Ruin Your Day

These obviously won't ruin your day. Chances are if you are into these styles you'll love this selection. No stylistic borders, but I'm limiting myself to one album per band. These aren't necessarily my favorite albums by these bands, but they are the one's I think fit the best.

10ish years later, I find a lot of my descriptions on these really mediocre. Don't judge my shitty writing.

1.Ævangelist - De Masticatione Mortuorum In Tumulis
2.Abruptum - Potestates Apocalypsis
3.Absolutus - Pugnare In Iis Quae Obtinere Non Possis
4.Abyssal - Novit Enim Dominus Qui Sunt Eius
5.Aderlating - Spear Of Gold And Seraphim Bone Pt. 1

mz's Most Favorite Progressive Metal Albums

Progressive metal is one of my most favorite musical genres. The most interesting thing about this genre is the musical flexibility and the fact that progressive metal can come into different forms and this makes progressive metal one of the most divers genres of metal. For me, progressive metal is not just about stupid technicality and soulless show off. For this reason, my definition of progressive metal might be a little different from others. Progressive rock and metal were meant to put aside musical boundaries but nowadays it seems that being complex, technical, "intelligent", ambitious and pretentious is an inherent quality of prog metal genres. Screw this bullshits. Here are my most favorite prog metal albums. They might sometime be technical and complex but they all have their own soul in my opinion.

1.Tool - Lateralus
2.Opeth - Still Life
3.Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor
4.Green Carnation - Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness
5.Mayhem - Ordo Ad Chao
